We ARE storymakers.
Humans have been gathering to swap stories since our ancestors first gathered together around a fire. In fact, I dare you to sit at a campfire and not be drawn into conversation.
But there’s also a lot of competition around the flames as we each try to outdo the other in creating compelling narratives. Nonprofits, charities and religious organizations are doing inspiring mission-based work, but often we’re so caught up in delivering our programs that we forget the need to communicate our impact to the rest of the world.
That’s why TechSoup holds an annual digital storytelling campaign each year. We want to help you create stories that get noticed.
As part of Storymakers 2014, we offer a slate of interactive events including our global tweet-chat on September 4, 2014 and NetSquared meet-ups this August and September with storytelling workshops and presentations in your local community.
Join our global-tweet chat on September 4, 2014 at #Storymakers2014. Think of the tweet-chat as your virtual campfire!
Our global tweet-chat will be a series of one-hour conversations to be hosted by digital storytelling experts. Connect with change-makers passionate about impact storytelling online for a series of conversations covering topics as diverse as “Incorporating Data into Storytelling” to “Telling your story in a single 140 character tweet." We are hosting true chats, which means we need your participation! We may have a fire pit, but we need your conversational kindling to keep the fire going.
Unfamiliar with tweet-chats? It’s a live Twitter event, usually moderated and focused around a general topic. A hashtag (in our case #Storymakers2014) is used to filter all the chatter on into a single conversation.
Our Storymakers 2014 events are not just online!
Attend one of our live NetSquared meet-ups in September around the globe. There are already free events scheduled in countries as far-flung as Australia, Kenya and the USA. Topics will include Storytelling through social media, the creation of shareable stories, and video storytelling. We’re publishing new events daily - check them out!
There are 50 NetSquared groups in 20 countries holding monthly gatherings and workshops for the tech4good community. Join your nearest group or start your own!
