Do you or people in your nonprofit wonder how to use a software
donation from TechSoup, but don’t know where to start? Are you familiar with
how the software you have can help you serve your mission? Atomic
Training is a website that provides step-by-step, professionally-done
video tutorials for today’s most powerful software tools, including tools for
your nonprofit. Through the Atomic Training Donation Program at
TechSoup, you can get donated subscriptions to the Atomic Training
website, to learn how to take full advantage of:
Or maybe if you’re a geek like me, you’re just curious to
(See the full list of Atomic Training tutorials here.)
Recently, I tried out Atomic Training because I wanted to
create a list of contacts that I could easily look up. I’m pretty experienced
using Microsoft Excel, but I’ve heard that Microsoft Access is useful for keeping track of a lot of information and
making it easier to search through lots
of contacts. If I could just learn how to use it, I could build a simple
database myself with tools I already have (a plus if your nonprofit is looking
to save costs).
After logging into the Atomic Training site and selecting
Access, here’s what my screen looks like while I’m watching a video:
Atomic Training has managed to break down 2 hours’ worth
of tutorials about Access into 2-3 minute videos that are easy to follow and practical. You can select videos you’re
interested in like this:
If you already know a little bit about the topic, you can
just choose the ones you’re not already familiar with. Or you could watch them
all in order – I quickly found that learning new things in easy 2-3 minute
bites got addictive, and in short time I had already watched 20 videos!
Overall, Atomic Training is an easy, cost-effective, and readily
available way to learn how to use today’s software tools to better serve your nonprofit.
