For nonprofits and libraries that would like to access the donated and discounted technology products and services available through TechSoup, the first step is to register. The registration process is in three parts: join, register, and qualify. In this post I'd like to talk about the first two steps. Many readers will already be familiar with these steps but the best place to start is usually at the beginning. I will get into more detail in future posts. Just look for TechSoup Account Management 101! Step One: JoinJoining TechSoup and registering your organization are two separate processes. Joining TechSoup as an individual gives you access to the TechSoup forums and other useful community resources. Beyond that, it lets you register organizations and request product donations on their behalf. Multiple TechSoup members can act as "authorized agents" for an organization, and members can serve as authorized agents for multiple organizations. To join, you will need to supply the following information:
**Please note that even if you continue on to register an organization or public library, you will use your email address and password to login and access the organization profile and place donation requests.** Step Two: Register or AssociateWhen you register, our system checks to see if an organization has previously been registered with your organization's tax ID or a public library's FSCS number. If it has not already been registered, you will be able to fill out the profile information for your organization. To register you will need to supply the following information: For 501(c)(3) Organizations and Libraries:
For Non-501(c)(3) Public Libraries:
Public libraries must also answer a few questions about staffing, communities served, and computer network.
Once all of the information has been entered, reviewed, and submitted, the organization account will have been created. As the authorized agent and creator of the account, you will then be presented with the steps for Qualification... but that is for another post!Check out all the posts in this series:

Is the Association Code an arbitrary code that our organization creates for the purposes of registering this techsoup account, or is it something that we would have had assigned to us by an agency other than ourselves?
The Association Code is created by the individual who registers an organization with TechSoup. It is used as a code to give to other staff members in order to gain access to the organization account. We just received 501(c)(3) status this year and have not filed a report with the IRS. Are we still eligible to register or will we need to wait until next Spring after the tax forms have been filed?
If your organization has received confirmation that it has been granted 501(c)(3) status, we can complete the qualification process. You should not need to wait any longer! :)
please explain how to change a physical address ... thanks!
